Things to Avoid, Continued…
“This trip sucks!” No matter how carefully you plan, there are always things beyond your control — especially in foreign countries. Flights get cancelled, baggage gets lost and the weather is always unpredictable. You are going to encounter disappointments. What you can’t afford is to let that disappointment show.
As soon as group members see that you’re unhappy, they will figure that they should be unhappy as well. But if you’re perpetually upbeat — even when doing so seems to defy logic — they may figure that something good must be just around the corner.
Find a confidant in the group whom you can rely on to give you an attitude check. (You may be projecting bad feelings and not even realize it.) When you’re friend cautions you that it’s time to lighten up, listen to him.
