The Group Leader Checklist
It’s no vacation; however, leading group trips is among the most enjoyable aspects of what we do. It’s a lot of work, but it can result in considerable satisfaction…if you do it right.
- Do it poorly and all you may experience is personal frustration and customer resentment over the fact you took what they perceive to be a personal vacation at their expense.
- Do it correctly and don’t be surprised if you have customers say, “However much they’re paying you, it isn’t enough.” That’s the mark of a true dive professional.
This two-part article presents a series of step-by-step procedures you can follow to help ensure the best possible experience for your customers. In Part I, we discuss the things you will need to accomplish before the trip begins. Among the topics covered:
- The leadership role.
- A word of caution.
- Researching your destination.
- Becoming your trip’s premiere salesperson.
- Establishing and maintaining contact with group members.
- Conducting pre-trip meeting(s).
