No, I’m Not Making This Up

I’d like to tell you that the very first dive store I worked for set a stellar example for dive retailers everywhere. And that the people I worked for were the kind all of us hope to have as mentors and role models. I’d also like to tell you that I’ve discovered a foolproof way to make millions of dollars, working at home in your spare time. None of it would be true, though.

Used Car Salesman

The fact is, the first store I worked for in the mid 1970s was not only a model of mismanagement, many of the people who worked there had the ethics of a used-car salesman.

The only good news is, I didn’t stay long nor did I embrace their idea of “salesmanship” as a good way to do business. The experience makes for some good stories, though.
