Size Matters

Trimming

The sign’s original size was 8-½ by 11. We mounted it on a piece of 9 by 12, self-adhesive foam core. This would allow us to trim the sign in a manner that made the edges of the sign flush with the edges of the foam core.

After the sign was in place, we used an X-Acto knife and a metal straight edge to trim the sign to slightly smaller than its original 8-½ by 11 dimensions. This helped create clean, flush edges all around.

Final Sign

When finished, we used masking tape loops to mount it to the slat wall immediately above the regulator display. We could have also used squares of double-sided, foam carpet tape for mounting. These further enhance a foam-core-mounted sign’s “3D” look. The problem is, once in place, the foam tape is almost impossible to remove from a surface such as slat wall without causing damage.
