Never the “Same Old Thing”
Think about a newspaper or magazine you might buy at a local newsstand. How likely would you be to pick up a copy of the latest issue if it looked exactly the same as the issue before it? Same pictures. Same headlines. It’s possible you wouldn’t even realize that what you were looking at was the latest issue.
Now think about the major department and retail stores in your area. Each time you visit, do they look exactly the same as they did the time before? Or, has someone taken the time to re-arrange displays and change around departments? More than likely, yes.
Major retailers understand the importance of constant change. They know shoppers are like newspaper and magazine buyers: They’re not interested in what is the same; they’ve come to see what’s new.
When was the last time you gave your displays a major overhaul — or completely changed the layout of your store? Diving’s most successful retailers do this constantly. So should you. Today would not be too early to start.
